Frequently Asked Questions About Matt McKee Photography:
What do you mean: "There is no such thing as a simple shot?"
Sounds crazy, doesn't it?
When clients tell me they just want a simple shot, I am sure they can see the image, complete and finalized, in their heads. But, for all of my super powers, I can't read minds.
So, I ask them questions- Lots of questions. Why are we creating this image, who are we creating it for, what kind of "feel" does the image have, what kind of message does it convey, what is the mood, how else can it be conveyed? By the time we get about half way through the conversation, we both have a much clearer idea of what the image is, how it should look and how to produce it.
One client put it this way, "I never really thought about the process, I just wanted a picture of my product. You made the picture relevant to my customers."
If I start thinking that, hey, its just a simple image, maybe I haven't thought it through enough yet. Many times, the production ends up being really simple.
But, the idea behind them almost never is! | The Usual Questions "What do you mean, 'there is no such thing as just a simple shot?'" "Isn't Custom Photography Expensive?" "How do you price your services?" "But, what is it that you do? Food? Still life? Product? Portrait? Location? What?" | |||||
