"Don't you feel the pinch from stock images?"
This question came up quite recently and it kind of stumped me. We are having one of our best years yet, with no sign of slowing down.
There are a lot of people who have turned to stock imagery for quick and easy fixes to their particular marketing problem.
Most of my clients, however, tell me that they are looking for something that stock will never have: an unique image of themselves.
An artful illustration of their bio-tech tool for sales and press materials or a portrait of their CEO for the annual report and web site just don't exist in the stock libraries. Their facilities and menu entrees have never been uploaded to the latest royalty free sites.
And, when a stock image seems to fit for your marketing concept, isn't it frustrating to see it on a banner in another booth across the tradeshow aisle (one bank's specific complaint)? What does that do to both companies' credibility? Branding? Unique market position?
No, stock images don't bother me much because I create the images that don't exist in stock. | The Usual Questions "What do you mean, 'there is no such thing as just a simple shot?'" "Isn't Custom Photography Expensive?" "How do you price your services?" "But, what is it that you do? Food? Still life? Product? Portrait? Location? What?" | |||||
